Dan Peterson and Mary VanDanacher were high school sweethearts. They were married and had 4 boys and 1 girl. He died of a heart attack a few years back. Dan was a gentle man, the apple of Marys eye and she misses him so much.
Dan was co-captain of the cross country team. While not the most gifted natural runner he made up for it with grit and was an excellent team leader. I hadn't spoken with Dan since his wedding in the mid-70s as our paths went different directions. Then in 2012 he dialed me up to offer his condolences on the loss of my parents. Typical Dan...thoughtful kind and just an all around solid guy. All qualities that I'm sure made him a beloved father and husband.
I knew Dan before he married Mary VanDanacker, who was my neighbor and 3rd cousin. They made a cute couple and I am sure they were great parents. Dan Peterson was as wholesome a person as I have ever met. My condolences to Mary and their family on his passing.
